What is Coaching?

Coaching is a form of supporting individuals to attain their personal goals. Three elements of life coaching are guidance which provides the tools and support for someone to broaden their perspective and open their mind, hence enabling them to reach their goals, through this process of guidance, the person gains empowerment and to a large extent it comes down to the individual in realizing their own self-worth and self-belief that has, for one reason or the other been diminished, and finally improvement in the sense that the person will go from where they are to where they want to be, in effect reaching their goal or goals in which they have set for themselves.

Where to start? Many of us are looking for balance, purpose, and harmony in our life. The root is connecting to our spirit – creating balance with the 4 quadrants of our being – our emotional, mental, physical and social well-being feeds into our spirit and creates meaning and purpose.

Emotional

Emotional well-being can include managing our anger and frustrations, examining the root cause of stress in our life, addressing grief and loss whether it be through the death of a loved one or loss of job, divorce or ending of a relationship. Forgiveness of self and others, opening ourselves up to a freedom and releasing the burdens of anxiety and fear.

mental

Mental well-being can include examining our self-talk, creating and enhancing our self-worth and self-esteem, building confidence and self-acceptance. Envisioning the life that we want for ourselves, living authentically and having purpose.

physical

Physical well-being can include elements of self-care through meditation and mindfulness, examining our habits of eating, sleeping and exercise. Creating healthy habits that are grounded in loving kindness and self-compassion.

SOCIAL

Social well-being can include life transitions, creating healthy relationships and assertive boundaries, work/career changes and finding that work/life balance.

SPIRITUAL

Spiritual well-being encompasses all elements of our life. When we have balance in each of the areas of our well-being, we can begin to uncover our true spiritual selves. Knowing how our spirit intertwines with our emotional self, our mind the mental self, how we take care of our body through our physical being and how we manage our social interactions are all part of our spiritual being. When one is our of balance our spirit is out of balance.

Moving forward in creating self-acceptance and building my confidence has opened up so many opportunities that I felt I could not achieve.
